by September 21, 2021As a soloist entertainer there is nothing quite like the excitement of setting out to a gig, having honed a great new bunch of covers, worked up your latest original, changed your strings, warmed up the vocal chords in the car and then as you first enter into the venue, knowing anything can happen and probably will – it’s now up to you to step up and create magic out of thin air, find your connection with a new audience, lead them on a journey to the discovery and enjoyment of great songs, and hopefully help them forget their daily grind and wash their blues away. It’s always a fresh challenge and it’s the life-blood of what makes being an itinerant musician such a passion, even addiction and a never disappointing buzz.

Malcolm Smith is no stranger to Perth, but it’s been quite a few years since he resided in this fair city, and he’s viewing his return as a fresh news start, a renaissance in his music career, as he stretches out and finds new music horizons. That’s the wonderful thing about the music life – the horizon is always a little further away, no matter how many hard yards you’ve put in, and most musicians will tell you, no matter how many years they’ve plied their craft, they are always improving and striving to be better.
Malcolm has spent the Covid years working on a whole new repertoire to launch himself into thew contemporary Perth music scene and is bursting with energy and excitement with the idea of getting out there and making new fans, meeting new friends and doing what he does best – sing
